Vision 2020 Campaign Kick-off Benefit Ball

HAVEN HANDS Inc prioritize children’s welfare above all things. Our children are our future, and they all deserve to a helping hand in life. As a humanitarian organization, we aim to be the refuge hands that  protects  every children, because all kids, everywhere, deserve a fighting chance at tomorrow.

Our goals may be lofty, but we think they’re achievable. With the help of our subsidiaries, we want to reduce child deaths due to hunger; provide aid next-day to children after natural disasters; have 10,000 successful HAVEN HANDS adoptions by 2019; build schools and improve education in areas of conflict; and, improve medical facilities in underprivileged areas.

We’re proud to announce the launch of a new campaign to get us that one step closer to reaching our goals—Vision 2020. The project of our subsidiary, The Rescue Project, Vision 2020 aims to raise $20 million to provide clean water and sanitation for over 200 million people worldwide by the year 2020.

Did you know that every minute, a child dies of a water-related disease? Or that 884 million people lack access to safe-water supplies? By 2025, almost 2 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world’s population could be living under water-stressed conditions.

The Rescue Project created Vision 2020 to help change those numbers. We aim to make the world a better place by improving safety, sanitation, and increasing access to the most elemental necessity of life—water.

The Rescue Project and Vision 2020 sit extremely close to the heart of our Chair of the Board of Directors, Resk ‘Que KitiKata. Born and raised in West Africa, where he also lived until his early teens, Resk ‘Que’s earliest experiences in life were impacted by issues from water scarcity, inadequate sanitation and improper eye health. Alongside his tremendous success as a fashion mogul and business magnate after moving to New York City, Resk ‘Que aspires to make a more altruistic impact in the world through his charitable works.

With Vision 2020, Resk ‘Que is drawing inspiration directly from his upbringing, honoring his mother by helping improve the lives of millions more women and children. As a child, Resk ‘Que’s mother lost her eye when someone maliciously threw a stone that struck her in the face. The injury would have been innocuous and easily treatable in the U.S. Instead, due to a lack of proper preventative care and maintenance, his mother lost her eye. Connecting this to his memories of her, and many other women in sub-Saharan Africa, having to travel many miles to find water just to bathe or drink, The Rescue Project was born.

To get Vision 2020 off to a dazzling start, as well as honor its founder, we’re hosting the campaign’s first fundraising event on November 20 right here in New York City. Celebrities, physicians, fashion icons, politicians and more will all come together to celebrate two things—Vision 2020 and Resk ‘Que. The fundraiser and gala will just be the first step towards the campaign’s 2020 goals.
